As much as I remember loving Tecmo Bowl as a kid, my mind doesn’t work in time warp tech reverse. I just can’t ignore the huge technological leaps in both graphics and game play that have transformed the gaming industry. It is, from an evolutionary perspective, a Lucy to the John Madden franchise’s Brooklyn Decker. (Who, we’re told, actually lives in Brooklyn with husband Andy Roddick).
But I can, without hesitation, make the following declarations:
1. I had more fun, and wasted more hours, playing Tecmo Bowl than any sports video game before or since.
2. Bo Jackson was the best running back I’ve seen play, before or since.
3. Tecmo Bo was the baddest player ever digitized.
Without any further nonsense, here is Tecmo Bowl (Hat tip: War Eagle Reader).
